Traffic Education

Butte School District #1 will provide a drivers’ training instruction program for students who live within the geographic boundaries of the public school district whether or not they are enrolled in the public school district and provided that students enrolled in the course will have reached their 15th birthday within six months of course completion, and has not yet reached 19 years of age on or before September 10 of the school year in which the student participates in traffic education.

The purpose of the program is to introduce students to a course of study which leads to the eventual development of skills appropriate for a licensed driver. The traffic education program is designed to meet the criteria established by the Superintendent of Public Instruction. These criteria include requirements for instructional time, for instructor certification, recommendations for course of study and reimbursement procedures.
