Bus Evacuation
The bus driver will:
Conduct a practice evacuation once each semester.
Ensure all passengers know when, why, and how to use front and rear doors in case of emergency.
Be the last to evacuate the bus.
Contact the transportation department as soon as possible after evacuation.
Students will:
Leave all carry-on baggage on the bus.
Evacuate in an orderly manner, those closest to the exit evacuating first (1st).
Move far enough from the bus that the numbers on the bus license plate are barely legible.
Remain in the evacuation area, under supervision of the bus driver.
Bus Accident
The bus driver will:
Evacuate students, if necessary.
Notify the transportation department by radio if within radio range. If radio contact cannot be made, notify the local law enforcement agency by the most expedient means. As soon as possible, notify by telephone the transportation department or the mechanic on call for the transportation department. The mechanic on call will immediately notify the director of transportation. The director of transportation will determine the course of action.
Remain at the scene of the accident until released by the law enforcement agency.
