Private Vehicle Transportation

Contract

The transportation department will notify the parent/guardian of an eligible transportee, when the District is unable to provide school bus transportation.

The transportation department will provide the parent/guardian with the proper contract and forms to obtain reimbursement for transportation.

The parent/guardian will submit the documents, through the transportation department, to the Board Chairman for approval.

The transportation department will disperse the approved documents as prescribed by law.

Transportation by Staff

Permission by the site administrator or designee must be granted for students to be transported by a staff member.

The site administrator or designee will notify the Superintendent, in writing, of the facts necessitating transportation of student(s) by a staff member.

Form 8101F-1 will be submitted by the staff member to the site administrator, with a copy to the Superintendent.

Within the scope of his duties, the student attendance officer may transport students, without prior permission.

Field Trips

On receipt of an approved Application for Field Trip (3510F-1), the principal/director will coordinate with the director of facilities, maintenance, and transportation for the approved requirements in compliance with Policy 3510.

Activity Trips

Co-Curricular

On receipt of an approved Application for Co-Curricular Trip (8102F-1), the principal/director will coordinate with the director of facilities, maintenance, and transportation for the approved vehicle requirements in compliance with Policy 8102.

Extracurricular

On receipt of an approved Application for Extracurricular Trip (8102F-2), the principal/director will coordinate with the director of facilities, maintenance, and transportation for the approved vehicle requirements in compliance with Policy 8102.

Athletics

Transportation for athletic events will be programmed at the beginning of each school year. Athletic staff will coordinate with the director of facilities, maintenance, and transportation for any special transportation requirements or changes in previous arrangements.

Based on the information and passenger list, the transportation department will arrange for transportation as prescribed by District policies.

Compliance With Existing Laws, Rules, and Regulations

School buses, vans, and any other motor vehicle used for transporting students to and from school and to and from school-sponsored activities will operate in compliance with applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
