Each year, our District administers several assessments to place students at their academic level. Students K - 6th are given DIBELS, a reading fluency assessment and students 2nd - 6th have been assessed using MAP (Measured Assessment of Progress) in Reading and Math. Students in 1st - 2nd are assessed using the Core Phonics Assessment. This assessment is used for our intervention program called “Blow the Lid Off”. This is a phonics program for 1st and 2nd grade but may also extend to include Kindergarten and 3rd Grade. The 1st and 2nd grade teachers will each teach a different phonics skill and students will walk to different classes for Intervention. Students are assigned to a group based on the needs of each student and lower grade teachers may teach a higher-level skill. Results of the DIEBELS and MAP assessments were sent home in report cards or given out at
Parent – Teacher conference. If you have any questions, please call our reading coach, Connie Carlson 533-2850.
