Message from the principal

It is with great pride and excitement that I welcome you to Emerson Elementary! My name is Erna Gallagher, and I am honored to serve as principal. I have been part of the Butte School District since 2007, working in many roles—Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 6th grade teacher, as well as a Reading Coach. My journey in education began right here at Emerson, where I student taught in 2006. Returning now as principal truly feels like coming full circle, and it is a privilege to lead such a remarkable school.

At Emerson, I am fortunate to work alongside a caring, dedicated, and talented team of educators who collaborate daily to ensure the highest levels of student success. We believe in maintaining high expectations for learning while fostering a warm, supportive environment where every child can thrive. Building positive, strong, and lasting relationships with our students and families is at the heart of all we do.

Beyond the classroom, Emerson offers students the chance to shine through school sports such as track, cross country, volleyball, and basketball. Academically, our students have opportunities to participate in city spelling bees, our Native American Education Fair, and the Hall of Fame program, celebrating their hard work and achievement. We take great pride in coming together as a school community to encourage and cheer on our students in everything they do.

Communication is a top priority at Emerson. We use ClassDojo to keep parents informed and connected to classroom happenings, school events, and important updates. We also encourage you to regularly check our school website for the latest activities and announcements.

Please be sure you have activated your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account and app. This valuable tool allows you to view your child’s grades, attendance, and hot lunch account. Step-by-step instructions are available on the main page of the Butte School District website.

I am truly looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and community connection. If you have any ideas, questions, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at 406-533-2801 or gallagherem@bsd1.org. Together, we can make this school year exceptional for our students.
