Message from the principal

Emerson is committed to providing the skills necessary for our students to be productive citizens.   To accomplish this goal, we challenge every student to develop his or her highest individual potential socially and academically. We believe all children thrive in a safe, industrious and positive school climate.

Each day our students model character, integrity and respect through our Montana Behavioral Initiative (MBI) expectations. They participate in a range of programs including technology, art, physical education, band and music.  Emerson school has implemented a variety of activities to focus on the strengths of our students such as:  Accelerated Reader, Honor Roll, Butte School District’s Hall of Fame, Positive Postcards, Principal Yellow Jacket Club, attendance challenge by floor and by grade, Yellow Jacket Buddies, school store, student council, student work program, ROCKIES after school science and math clubs, and Emerson after school runners.

The Emerson staff strives to have our students and ourselves be heroes throughout all aspects of our lives.  We say the Hero pledge each morning and students earn “B bucks” for meeting goals in each area.

We are the Emerson Yellow Jacket Heroes
We promise to be Here and Engaged every day
We will Respect ourselves and others
We will take Our responsibilities seriously during work and play
We will make Education our priority and meet our goals
We will be Safe in our actions and our words
We are the Emerson Yellow Jacket H.E.R.O.E.S heroes!

We invite you to join our PTO Facebook page, EmersonElementaryPTO.  This will keep you updated on current school activities.  The Butte School District Infinite Campus parent portal and app are available for all families and students. This portal provides you access to grades, attendance, and hot lunch accounts.  Instructions for how to use each of these are on the main page of the school district website.

If you have, any questions please feel free to contact me at minerbk@bsd1.org or 533-2800.   I am humbled every day by the hard work and determination from our staff and students to make each day better for each other.  Our school community is steadfast in its work to enable each student to experience personal success and develop into lifelong learners.  Thank you for the opportunity to work with your children.
