Message from the principal

Welcome to the Margaret Leary Elementary website!  My name is Jennifer Luoma, your principal.  I am extremely proud of our school due to its dedicated staff, hardworking students, and engaged parents.   

Margaret Leary has implemented a variety of positive supports for its students such as positive postcards, the Tootles 200 Club, and monthly incentive parties for meeting reading, attendance, behavior, and assignment goals. When goals are met, students earn “Mustang Bucks”, which can be spent monthly at the school store or saved for special field trips. 

We have the best students in Butte, and are extremely proud of our academic Hall of Fame program, which encourages students to enrich their academic abilities through a “jeopardy” style competition.  Our students are also involved in after school clubs such as robotics, science club, and Lego Engineering club. 

Finally, our Margaret Leary Milers, a long distance running club, starts up each spring and culminates with an appearance in the Montana Governor’s Cup 5K road race each June!

Please review our website newsletter to keep current on upcoming events and activities.   Also, make sure you have activated your Infinite Campus parent portal account and app. This will allow you to access your child’s grades, attendance, and hot lunch account.   Instructions for each of these are on the main page of the school district website.
