Message from the principal

October 1, 2019

Hello, Parents and Guardians!

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  On behalf of our staff and administration, I would like to take this opportunity to express how excited we are to have your son or daughter with us here at East Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year.  It’s going to be a great year, and we are glad you are part of our team!

We are excited about the changes we have made in preparation for this school year.  Of our many goals for the year, we have rededicated our school to the fundamentals of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.  The program offers a lot of opportunities to improve our school culture proactively as well as methods to work with students involved in these situations.  Part of that process does include help from families.  If your son or daughter reports any difficulties, please give us a call and we will get right on it.  Effective communication with families is a crucial component required for the program to be successful.

Families of middle school students play an important role in building a framework for student success.  This year it is our goal to create more opportunities for parents to be involved with our school.  Whether sitting on a committee, or helping out at events, we will be asking for your help.  If you are available, please jump in with us.

There are a lot of different opportunities for your student to get involved in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.  We have worked to make those programs better as well.  You will notice our football teams playing their home games in Bulldog Memorial Stadium under the lights.  Also, we have brought back the Builder’s Club and are creating another club referred to as Student Ambassadors that will help us develop community service opportunities for our students.

Finally, we are in the final planning stages for the intensive remodeling project that is slated to begin next spring.  This is a great investment and opportunity for our community, and we are excited about it and appreciate all the support the community has provided us.  If you have any questions about these or any other programs or activities at East Middle School, please feel free to give us a call.  Thanks for your support!
