RFID Bus Passes

RFID Bus Passes

The Butte School District replaced all their scanners with RFID readers in the 24-25 school year. These are similar to what hotels use. Please throw away bus passes with barcodes at the bottom, as they are no longer compatible.

RFID can only have one card activated at a time. Much like a hotel room, you do not want your old hotel key to work if you received a new one from the front desk. When we replace your child's bus pass, you will receive an email with your child's new ID to the number on the back of the card. There will also be a number on the front that indicates what number card your child is on (#2, #3 for example). If you find your child's first bus pass, hold onto it and we can reactivate it if they lose their 2nd bus pass.

As you can see by the image attached, these cards are more intelligent than our past cards. That does mean they cost more to make--$2 a piece, in fact. We do not want to charge for these cards, so please help your children with taking care of their bus pass. Our four lost bus pass policy remains the same, with a three day suspension from the bus.

To replace your child's bus pass, please email Kelsey Chase at chasekd@bsd1.org or you can call at 406-533-2490. We will replace your child's card as soon as possible.
